One of Ansel Adams photographs.

The Tetons and Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.

Content
This is a photogaph of the Tetons and snake river, Gran Teton National Park, Wyoming. This photo was taken in 1933-1942. This is photograph of a river and nature with mountains in the background. This photograph seems to represent the power of nature. At the background, we have a hard mountain and in the picture we have a river and the river was able to make its way through the mountain even though it is really hard and strong. The title does not really change the way i see this image. This photograph is a realistic depiction and if for any reason some of it is exaggerated then it is the use of black and white but that is what makes the picture beautiful. The theme of this photograph can be calmness and Adams seems to love black and white photograph which relates to my theme. As the river is finding its way through the mountains, it could mean that the message that this photograph is trying to communicate is to never give up no matter what.
Form
This photograph is black and white and it affects the mood of the photograph as it makes it more look more calm. The photograph is both high and low contrast, for example the river is low contras and the plants and trees are low contrast. There are many defferent lines in the photograph. Curved lines around the river and straight sharp lines on the mountain, This ads an amazing effect to the photo. These are curvd shapes, and triangles in this photograph. The fact that the river is curved and the mountains are triangles and sharp, yet the river is still able to find its way through the mountain does clearly show that the is nothing impossible.
Process
This photograph is taken outside most probably at day time but the use of black and white made it look dark. A camera has been used and also photoshop to make it black and white.
Mood
This photograph makes me feel calm because of the river and the fact that its curved also adds to this feeling aswell as the colour.

Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams was born in San Francisco on 20th February, 1902. His original ambition was to become a concert pianist until he visited Yosemite National Park in 1916 where he took his first photos and then his ambition changed and wanted to become a photogapher. Hewas best known for his black-and-white photographs of the American West, especially in Yosemite National Park.   He  worked as a photo technician and as a caretaker at the Sierra Club in Yosemite Valley before he was able to become a full-time photographer. His first one-man show was held in San Francisco in 1932. This was followed by another in New York in 1936. Greatly influenced by the work of Paul Strand.
With Fred Archer, Adams developed the Zone System as a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of the final print. The resulting clarity and depth characterized his photographs and the work of those to whom he taught the system. Adams primarily used large-format cameras despite their size, weight, setup time, and film cost, because their high resolution helped ensure sharpness in his images.

I have chosen him because I find his work really beautiful and inspiring. He has an amazing use of black and white and his photography is eye catching.

one of Wim Wenders photograph

This is a self portrait of Wim Wenders. It's pictures of Wim Wenders from different angles and has been put together to make a collage. i found this interesting because we do not get to see a full picture of his face, they are all croped to fit another picture. (Where and when). This photograph can represent different mood swings from different angles. For example; the little pictures on the left hand side seem to ne more happier than the ones on the right. The ones on the right are more serious. (Name of the photograph and does the name chnage what we see in the photograph?). (realistic depiction?). No parts of this image is exxaggerated because there is nothing to really exaggerate about, all that was making a collage out of different photos of Wim Wenders. In my opinion, the theme of the photograph are different moods, from a happy mood to a serious mood and then on the right a sad mood.
The colours of this photograph are natural, overall, it is kind off dark. There are both high and low contrast, for example, high contrast on the back ground and hair and low contrast on the face. His face is always framed with little pieces of his body around. There are only squares in the photograph, he might of done this to show each picture has a different meaning, for example; wondering, staring and thinking.
From the photo, we can see that the photograph was probably taken in a dark room because of the dark back ground and most likely at night time. It was probably lit by the flash of the camera, i think this because this photograph is only lighted on the face whilst the background was just black. My photograph has been manipulated by cropping the photos into small squares. This photograph makes me feel relaxed and makes me think and wonder why he has done his photograph like this. It makes me feel like this because in the photograph, he is also relaxed and the colours are really natural.

wim wenders research

  • Wim Wenders was born on 17 August 1945.
  • He is a German film director, playwright, author, photographer and film producer.
  • Since 1996, he has been the president of the European Film Academy in Berlin.
  • The style of his work is Abstract.
  • Most of Wim Wenders' photographs are created during his personal travels and while location-scouting for his films. A great part of the resulting body of work has been published in several books and exhibited in museums and galleries all over the world.
  • i have chosen this phtoographer because i found his photography really nice and simple and i really like his black and white images.
This is Wim Wender

Here are examples of some of Wim Wenders work.

I carried out some research into existing photographers to get some ideas and inspirations in terms of style and techniques.I used a website called 'thephotoraphyteacher.com, which has a section on many different photographers. I selected abstract/conept as this was an area i was interested in for my work and i chose to look at work of Wim Wenders. I chose his work because of the dramatic use of black and white, because of the amazing use of high and low contrast and also the way he puts different photos together to create a collage. All his photos seem to be dark in their own way. I searched for images of his work using google and Wikipedia and a website that has his biography in order for me to understand his work and ideas more clearly. This research was completed to give me ideas and inspirations but to also show me how different photographers style and compose their photograph. It is clear that Wim Wenders loves dark photos which links to theme of love or hate. I was interested in researching her because of his style and i also like it because his work is eye catching.

Love and hate visual mind map

Love and hate.
First, I opened up powerpoint. Then i thought of all the inanimate objects I love or hate. I listed them on one slide of the powerpoint. Then i opened up another slide and created a visual mind map of all the things i love and i got pictures of google. Then i opened another slide and created a visual mind map of most of the things i hate. This relates to my theme because these are my first ideas of all the things i love and hate and i'm going to use these ideas afterwards in my project. i have learnt that i love more things than i hate and i learnt that i will need to narrow it down in my coursework.
